Daily Sketch #6: Licky

Not a scary piece today, unless you have a galloping phobia of being licked by some sort of two-legged dino-cow.

This is me rather obnoxiously playing with brushes (check out that background! Computeriffic!), but I like the shading I'm starting to get. I'd been really missing the softness of my watercolors, and I feel like I'm beginning to approach it again. The secret appears to be messin' with brush opacity. Ruby, you were missing the brushes too-- what do you think?

I'm still trying to get a good watercolor effect out of PS, I have a tutorial for it, actually...but I haven't gotten it to work yet. I have figured out how to get a good 'marker' though. Try setting the brush to multiply...it really changes the way your colors mix!

And the different brushes are something that I don't play with enough. :(

...also, how many layers are you doing these on?

I love your composition on this. So cute! n_n

Iiin order!

Thanks, Rose!

Kila: Oh, no! I didn't mean to make anyone think!;)
Beauty and the Beast, eh? I like it-- learning to love THAT would be a test of true love indeed!

Jennifer, you confuse me, traveling incognito! Nice to see you here, Y!

Tilt, Mannie-- thank you fr your continued blog patronage!:)

Vanessa- my internet explorer does not love your blog, and Opera currently hates us all--any chance you're going by Makerfaire?

Ruby- you're always helpful, dear! I have indeed played around with the multiply setting-- I don't like it much. This one is brushes on transparency, wet edge, and I thiiiiink it's getting there. You?

Can you believe, this was only three layers? Layout, color, and ink. Because of Cintiq. It's maaagic! I'm gonna try to do my 24 hour comic on it (told you I'd be back!)
